Smart Alert: Low Home Temperature

If you received this email alert, your Sensi thermostat has indicated that your room temperature is at or below 45°F/7°C. Take action to ensure that your home is being properly heated.

Check System Mode

Make sure your Sensi is in “Heat” mode.
If it is in Heat, toggle it Off, and then back to Heat to try to turn it on.

Sensi App

  • Open the app.
  • Tap on your thermostat name that received the alert.
  • In the lower left-hand corner of the app, make sure Heat is selected. If you see the word Off instead, tap it and switch it to Heat.
  • Adjust the set temperature above the room temperature. You should see the background turn orange, indicating that the thermostat is trying to turn on your heating system.

At the thermostat

  • Depending on your Sensi model, you will have different icons for the system mode. Refer to your Manual Operation Guide if you need help finding the mode icon/button to make sure it’s in Heat.
  • Adjust the set temperature above the room temperature. You should hear a click to indicate that it’s trying to turn on your heating system.

I don’t have a “Heat” mode

If you don’t see “Heat” as an option, you may need to check the thermostat’s HVAC configuration, based on your Sensi model.

Check your HVAC system

If the HVAC system isn’t coming on, you may need to troubleshoot it.

Is your power on?

Make sure your home has power. Check other devices to make sure there isn’t any power outage at your home.

Have you used Sensi in Heat mode before? (New install)

If you recently installed Sensi, this may be the first time you’ve used this thermostat for your heating system. Make sure that you’ve wired and configured the thermostat properly to operate your system.

Troubleshoot your HVAC system

Use this support article to check your system and do some troubleshooting.

Check wire connections

  • Make sure all wires are tight in the terminal block and the wires are neatly tucked into the wall.
  • Remove the thermostat cover from the sub-base.
  • Tug each wire gently. No wire should feel loose or come out. If any feel loose or come out, screw them back down.
  • Make sure the wires are not touching each other. No bare wire should stick out from under screw terminals or touch another copper wire.
  • Make sure none of the wires are overlapping the plastic part of the sub-base. All wires should be tucked into the empty space and pushed back as far as you can in the wall.

Still not working?

If you’ve exhausted the troubleshooting options, you may need to contact an HVAC professional to service your equipment.
